Our Crowdfunding Groups
In 2014, we asked ourselves if there was a way to challenge how designers were taught in school by making the classroom more collaborative. To test this, we merged a Graphic and Interior Design studio for a ten-week interdisciplinary course that challenged students to design and brand a hotel and restaurant. Over the last four years, the Experiential Design Studio has been successful in creating a holistic hospitality design experience with results that are more comprehensive than a single disciplinary design studio can offer.
We have been successful in creating an environment where ideas can thrive and students can leverage the strength of their individual disciplines. Students learn from faculty but also working with their peers in ways that are similar to the professional practice environment. Your financial contribution to this campaign will be used to purchase materials that allow students to build full-size building component mock-ups, signage, branding and identity elements, models, prototypes and more.
Your support will give students freedom to explore the possibilities of unknown materials and fabrication techniques without the financial burden associated with an in-depth studio course of this magnitude. Additionally, we will be able to visit project sites, product manufacturers, meet with design professionals, as well develop research case studies from existing hotels and restaurants.
This collaborative approach to design education has proven to be a successful experience for students on multiple levels. Your financial contribution will open up even more opportunities to explore, learn and experience design from a unique and different perspective at Louisiana Tech University.
