Louisiana Tech University will host the ONLY invitational in the state on January 26, 2019! We are expecting teams from throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, and we want to put on the BEST invitational in the south! We have volunteers from around the campus - both students and faculty - that will supervise the 23 events in each division. Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers. These goals are achieved by participating in tournaments and non-competitive events, incorporating Science Olympiad into classroom curriculum and attending teacher training institutes. Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division (Division B is middle school; Division C is high school). Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation. Through Science Olympiad, students, teachers, parents, principals and business leaders bond together and work toward a shared goal.
