This year the SSBC National Finals will be hosted by Louisiana Tech University!
The Student Steel Bridge Competition (SSBC) has been taking place since 1987 when Lawrence Tech, Michigan Tech, and Wayne State competed in a parking lot to determine who had the best bridge. This first competition sparked an interest in competing across the country, thus starting the regional competitions and national finals. The event has grown every year since, and more than 200 schools are expected to compete this year, with the top 40-45 teams across North America advancing to the 2024 SSBC National Finals. LA Tech has built a reputation for being a go-to location for student conferences having also recently hosted 2022 ASCE National Concrete Canoe Finals to much acclaim.
This event will provide great exposure to our University and our study body. More than 600 people will be in attendance and that will include National Sponsors looking to recruit students from LA Tech. COES and LA Tech leadership have all supported our team in pursuit of this event and are exciting about the opportunities it will create for the students and our school.
Corporate sponsorships are available for this event; contact John Matthews at matthews@latech.edu to make a direct sponsorship outside of this crowdfunding platform.
